Nix Camp

Nix Camp is a 2 week long event from September 12th to September 26th. A time to come together and learn about Nix whilst living in the midst of Wales, Snowdonia, surrounded by nature and friends. There are no formal talks, training sessions or workshops. Half a month of living, breathing, learning and sometimes sleeping with Nix.

This is the second Nix Camp.

Tickets/Booking

Tickets are priced at £60 per person. This covers food and attendance. Accomodation is a separate expense that is discussed below in Venue & Accommodation

Nix Camp is a 2 week long event wherein attendance is split into 2 sessions.

Week 1, Week 2

This event occurs between the dates of September 12th to September 26th You can sign up for a given week, or stay for both if you so desire.

Since this second Nix Camp is expected to be close-knit, there is no automated booking system, we will be manually accounting and replying to individuals via email.

If you would like to participate in the second ever Nix Camp, please send us an email with the subject "Attending Nix Camp" at [email protected] with answers to the following questions:

  • What is your name? (Aliases are also accepted)
  • What weeks(s) you would like to attend? (1, 2)
  • Are you also participating in the Summer of Nix program?
  • Will you find accommodation of your own in the area?

  • Please, feel free to ask additional questions if you have them.

Our response will contain details for payment. Once recieved and reviewed, we will confirm your attendance and respond with a link to join our Matrix Room for onboarding.

Venue & Accommodation

Accommodation will be provided by the Astralship, a hackerspace that promotes creativity, collaboration and innovation located in Deiniolen, Wales. Festri Cefn Y Waun, Astral Road, Deiniolen, Caernarfon LL55 3NB

The Astralship is based in a 200 year old chapel, where the mountains of Snowdonia meet the sea. The chapel dates from 1838 and is located in an unbelievably beautiful area, with endless mountains, beaches and quarries to explore. It's the perfect place to be if you like hiking, climbing and wild swimming.

Food and accommodation is offered on-site for the duration of the event at the cost of £40/night. There are many AirBNB and hotel offerings available in the surrounding area if this arrangement does not suit you.

Food will still be provided to those who choose not to stay overnight at the venue, as this cost is included in the ticket price.

  • Who is Organizing This? - This event is being organised by enthusiasts, for enthusiasts. Namely Matthew Croughan and Lee Hughes who are active within the NixOS community. Anybody who would like to help should shoot us an email at [email protected] with the subject "Organizing Nix Camp".
  • Is this event sponsored? - No. We have not yet asked for, nor recieved any interest in sponsorship. If you would like to sponsor the camp, please email us at [email protected].
  • Is there a discount for staying longer? - Yes. There is a 10% discount offered if you choose to stay for both weeks of the event.
